I'm Glad I'm Me

I don't understand why everyone stares,
When I take off my clothes and dance down the stairs.
Or when I stick carrots in both of my ears,
Then dye my hair green and go shopping at Sears.
I just love to dress up and do goofy things,
If I were an angel, I'd tie-dye my wings!

Why can't folks accept me the way that I am?
So what if I'm different and don't act like them?
I'm not going to change and be someone I'm not.
I like who I am, and I'm all that I've got!

Things I'm not Good At

What a shame I'm not good at making my bed,
Or washing the dinner dishes.
What a pity I'm awful at broccoli-eating,
And feeding my sister's fishes.
So sad I've no talent for cleaning my room,
All those jobs - it's so hard to get through them.
(If I tell you I'm no good at those kind of things,
Maybe then you won't ask me to do them).

If I Were Ruler of the World

If I were ruler of the world,
I'd make some changes fast.
I'd say, "The ruler's always first;
His little brother's last."

The ruler's older sister,
would have to listen, too.
If I said, "Go and eat a bug,"
that's what she'd have to do.

All dinners would be different then;
You wouldn't have to finish,
Peas or beans or broccoli,
or brussels sprouts or spinach.

I'd put an end to chores at home,
And all that parents said.
There'd be no more: "Go clean your room!"
"Wash Up!" "Go make your bed!"

My school would be all boarded up,
The classrooms still and dark.
No! Better yet - I'd knock it down,
and make a brand new park!

If I were ruler of the world,
everything would be just right -
this is what I think about,
As I drift off at night.

Mother's Nerves

My mother said, "If just once more,
I hear you slam that old screen door,
I'll tear out my hair! I'll dive into the stove!"
I gave it a bang and in she dove.

My Little Sister

My little sister,
likes to eat.
But when she does,
she's not too neat.
The trouble is,
she doesn't know,
exactly where,
the food should go!

Baby Brother

He sucks and sucks,
and wets his diaper,
then he grunts,
and needs a wiper.

So it goes with baby brother -
in one end and out the other.

The Dog

The truth I do not stretch or shove,
when I state the dog is full of love.
I've also proved by actual test,
A wet dog is the loving-est.

A Student's Prayer

Now I lay me down to rest,
I pray I pass tomorrow's test.
If I should die before I wake,
That's one less test I'll have to take.

I Love to do my Homework

I love to do my homework,
it makes me feel so good.
I love to do exactly,
as my teacher says I should.

I love to do my homework,
I never miss a day.
I even love the men in white,
Who are taking me away.

My Puppy Loves Flowers

My puppy's in the garden,
he loves to smell the flowers.
To help them grow my puppy always,
sprinkles them with showers. (pee)

Night, Knight

"Night, night,"
said one knight,
to the other knight,
the other night.
"Night, night, night."

Stop Sniffling!

If you should have the sniffles,
you'd better blow your nose.
Because if you go, "Achoo!!"
you'll mess up all your clothes.

The Blue Grass

If the sky was green,
and the grass was blue,
what would it mean?
would it matter to you?

Would you honestly yell,
"Huh? What the fart?"
To everybody you tell,
as it tears you apart?

Or would you stay true,
and let the people who tell,
that the grass is blue,
run, scream, and yell?

Or might you not care,
about the people quite near us,
and simply just stare,
at the kids that can't hear us?

This is not very easy,
I know that for you.
For all this is cheesy,
and won't ever come true.
